Our names are Sophia Gatta and Rachel Corliss, and we have been selected as candidates for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's 2023 Student Visionaries of the Year Program. We are both current sophomores at Red Bank Catholic High School. We have proudly decided to choose “Team Kick Back Cancer” since it  is the 8 year Red Bank Catholic High School legacy team name! We are very honored to continue this legacy and work with LLS to find cures for blood cancer and support patients and their families while also raising awareness. This prestigious program is a 7-week competition for high school leaders seeking to raise money and make an impact in the fight against cancer. It will take place from January 25th to March 18, 2023. As a result of the campaign, students improve their networking and social skills while engaging in outreach to their local communities. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society plays a valuable role in research, patient care, and family services for those afflicted by cancer. We want to do our part to advance cancer treatments and make thousands of recoveries possible and we are honored to be a part of such an amazing cause.

This campaign is very important to us because we both know many people who have passed away due to cancer and we want to make a difference in the lives of patients and their families across the country. We believe that we can increase awareness about the impact of cancer and inspire others to join the fight to find a cure. 

As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:

• Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients 

• Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more. 

• Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.
